Wines Of The Year 2022 – National Off License Awards
It’s very easy to know why these wines are at the top spot this year for the red and white categories. They are both exceptional, easy drinking and express the true personality and flavours of their regions.
Lolo Albariño is a fantastic crisp and bright wine that is a lovely expression of the area. Rías Baixas region produces some of the world’s most elegant white wines, one of Spain’s signature white wines that pairs wonderfully with seafood, Albariño is the native grape variety, grown in the wet and windy wine region in the Northwestern Spain on the Atlantic coast in a area known as Galicia.
Rioja Vega Crianza 2018 is a velvety smooth, juicy yet elegant red with strawberry and raspberry aromas backed up with notes of vanilla, spices, and red fruit compote. Fresh, pleasant and balanced wine with a long finish. This crianza is produced mostly from tempranillo with the addition of garnacha and a native variety by the name of mazuelo. The goal of the guys at Bodega Rioja Vega is to produce low yields of highly concentrated quality grapes that express the true character of their varietals.
