Muscadet comes in two different forms; ‘Muscadet’ and ‘Muscadet Sur Lie’. The ‘sur lie’ means on lees and refers to the wine spending time on the dead yeast cells. This is a brilliant and well used technique which adds a soft and creamy texture to the wine.
This is a gorgeous glass for those who like a more intense style of Muscadet, having spent nine months sur lie. Freshly cut apples & pears followed by spicy and yeasty notes, this is mouth filling and rich. This is definitely a wine for those who love seafood and will pair well with smoked salmon, prawns and of course, oysters!
Produced by Loire wine icon, Nicolas Reau, the idea behind this project is to create excellent value wines, from organically-farmed grapes and as naturally as possible. The proof is in the pudding here!
