The Vegan Wine Box | Red Wines
There are 13 ingredients in a bottle of wine and some are not vegan friendly. After a wine is fermented it is usually fined and filtered with animal proteins (casein) resulting in a clear, clarified juice. Vegan wines however are unable to use these proteins so instead use an agent called bentonite clay or they are chosen not to be filtered at all resulting in a cloudy, exciting style of wine.
We have put together a delicious six bottle box of vegan red wines perfect for any occasion.
Six bottles, five countries, 6 different grapes, some that are best sellers, some lesser known but still as superb.
About the wines:
6 x Red Wines
Pietradolce Etna Rosso, Italy: The little known grape of Nerello Mascalese is a delight in the growing trend for light body, light alcohol red wines. Fresh strawberries, raspberries, cherries and the sweet and refreshing juiciness of blood orange with a silky mouthfeel describe this wine.
Umbrele Merlot, Romania: A medium bodied fruity, plummy and juicy red with hints of caramel and mocha that goes down very easily.
Bodegas Salentein, Portillo Malbec, Argentina: We love this Malbec alot! Its fun, soft and fruity with flavours of dark fruits like blackberries and blueberries, with lovely juicy plums and hints of caramel.
Vina Zorzal, Garnacha, Spain: Juicy red fruit, no oak and a soft mouthfeel, its a lovely crowd pleasing wine. Yum!
Liberty Nages Rouge, France: This is such a lovely wine with soft plush fruit and a silky mouthfeel. With flavours of dark fruit and some herbs and only 12.5% alcohol, The Nagles as we call it, is a firm favourite.
Matsu El Recio, Toro, Spain: This wine spends 14 months in new oak which creates a robust wine with dark red fruits, spice, herbs and a lovely silky mouthfeel.
