This sauternes was produced as the ultimate homage to beloved wine merchant Thomas Barton, who landed in Bordeaux from Ireland in 1725. Within a few years Barton became the most important wine merchant in Bordeaux having built a solid reputation among prestigious customers all over Europe. He spent his final years with his family close to home in Straffan House, Co. Kildare.
