Bellafonte, Montefalco Bianco 'Sperella
Product Information
Montefalco Bianco ‘Sperella’ is crafted from younger Spoletino vines through spontaneous fermentation and remains unfiltered, embracing skin contact for added complexity. This wine showcases an intense straw color with aromas of lime, bergamot, pineapple, and freshly cut grass. On the palate, it delights with flavors of brewer's yeasts, lime, fresh exotic fruit, and finishes on fresh mineral notes. The wine has a touch of creaminess, with golden ripe peach and hints of almonds, making it an excellent pairing for hard cheeses, chicken, or meaty fish dishes.
Tenuta Bellafonte, near Bevagna in the village of Torre del Colle, spans 40 hectares, with 11 dedicated to vineyards. Owner Peter Heilbron, who left the corporate world in 2007, designed an energy-independent winery using solar panels and a biomass boiler. Committed to sustainable viticulture, Heilbron avoids chemical fertilizers and herbicides, opting for natural methods and sustainable fungicides when necessary. Montefalco Bianco ‘Sperella’ embodies his philosophy, offering a vibrant, fresh wine with minimal SO2 and a rich, lingering finish. This skin contact wine is a testament to Heilbron's dedication to producing elegant and refined wines that express Umbria's unique terroir.
