Domaine Tempier Bandol Rouge
Product Information
Deep ruby colour and aromas of dark fruit, delivering intense flavours with smooth tannins. It is well-balanced and can be enjoyed after 3 to 4 years but develops extremely pleasant tertiary aromas of leather, animal, and undergrowth with further ageing. The wine's balance gives it an impressive ageing potential of 15 years or more. Meaty and fleshy, it combines dark fruits with dusty tannins and earthy, spicy flavours, promising a wine that will develop and layer beautifully over time.
The Peyraud family's passion and advocacy for Bandol began when Lucie "Lulu" Tempier married Lucien Peyraud in 1936, inheriting Domaine Tempier, a family farm since 1834. Inspired by a pre-phylloxera bottle of Bandol, Lucien championed the Mourvèdre grape, leading to the establishment of Bandol as an A.O.C. in 1941. His legacy includes the revival of Mourvèdre, now essential to Bandol reds, and the creation of structured, long-lasting wines that have earned Domaine Tempier a reputation as a grand cru de Provence.
