Maranges Blanc, Domaine Charleux (white)
Product Information
This village level wine's vines close to 30 years of age. The wine is balanced and focused, offering a truly classic expression of white Burgundy from the Cote de Beaune. Soil is mostly limestone and 2020 was a great year weather – wise, enabling an excellent harvest of particularly ripe Chardonnay, at 57 hectoliters per Hectare. The harvest was done manually and the wines are pressed in a balloon press, with 24 hours of skin contact. The wines are then aged in oak barrels for 12 months, of which 15% is new oak. The result is lovely Chardonnay juice, with hints of quince, white pepper and brioche. Superb length for a village level Burgundy and very ‘moreish’!
