There are 6 wines in this box ranging from a youthful unoaked Rioja right up to the epitome of all Rioja, the Gran Reserva.

Rioja is made predominantly from the Tempranillo grape which is incredibly versatile. It can be made in a fresh and fruity style or can be as oaky as you like. We have selected a range of wines for this Rioja box that tick all the boxes.

A couple of notes on Rioja: 

  • When a Rioja label has the word Crianza on it, it is a legal classification for oak. It means that the wine has spent 1 year aging in oak and 1 year aging in the barrel.
  • Likewise, Reserva is made from an even better selection of grapes and the wine must spend 2 year aging in bottle and 1 years in the barrel.
  • Top of the pack here is Gran Reserva which is produced only in exceptional years from exceptional grapes and the wines must spend 2 years aging in oak and 3 in the bottle before the wine is released.
