Bedoba, Saperavi 2022
This is so so good! If you have never tried a Georgian red wine, producer Bedoba has set the bar very high. This is a rich and full bodied red bursting with dark fruits, herbs, mocha, caramel and chocolatey tones. A wine that would be perfect on a cold evening in front of the fire, or in the summer with a BBQ. Definitely a wine for wine lovers. Made from indigenous Georgian grape 'Saperavi' in Georgia's most renowned wine region Kakheti, this wine is definitely for the curious wine drinker. Partially fermented in ancient traditional clay pots called Quervi and stainless steel tanks, the winemakers Nugzar Ksovreli and Thierry Fontannaz combine tradition with innovation to create super interesting, delicious wines.

Herdade do Peso, 'Trinca Bolotas' Alentejo Tinto 2022
Portuguese wines are some of the best value reds on the market and this field blend from Alentejo is now exception. Dark fruit like blackberries and blackcurrants are layered with spice and a gorgeous texture. This is a bombshell wine, a real cracker! One of the main grapes in the blend here is Alicante Bouschet, a very unique grape in the wine world as the pulp is dark in colour. It adds depth and perfume to this outstanding wine. 'Trinca Bolotas' meaning acorn muncher is a nod to the acorn munching Iberian pigs that are native to the area. Alentejo produces superb red wines made from the regions native grape varieties, Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez and Touriga Nacional.

Vesevo, 'Aglianico' Campania
1
Vesevo, 'Aglianico' Campania
This complex and beautifully structured Aglianico perfectly captures Campania’s volcanic terroir. Deep ruby-red with violet hints, it opens with ripe black fruit, wild herbs, and a touch of smoky spice. The palate is full-bodied yet smooth, with layers of dark cherry, cassis, and warm baking spice, all wrapped in velvety tannins. A hint of vanilla from eight months in oak adds depth, while the finish is long, dry, and effortlessly balanced. If you love intense, yet refined Southern Italian reds, this one deserves a spot in your glass. Situated in the Irpinian hills of Campania, Vesevo crafts wines that capture the soul of this ancient winemaking region. Their vineyards, set at 450–700m altitude, benefit from cool breezes off the Bay of Naples, allowing for slow ripening and concentrated flavours. The volcanic soils—rich in phosphorus and potassium from Mount Vesuvius—add a signature minerality and depth to their wines. Under the guidance of winemaker Antonio Melone, Vesevo continues to prove why Aglianico is one of Italy’s greatest red grapes, delivering a wine that is both powerful and elegantly refined.

Bodegas Albizu, Caminante Tempranillo 2022
1
Bodegas Albizu, Caminante Tempranillo 2022
A serious crowd-pleaser style of Tempranillo that is brimming with fresh ripe red fruit flavours with hints of blackberries. There is no oak here making it very both easy drinking and the . Serve with or without food, or even straight out of the fridge on the warmer weather. Produced by Viña Albergada, a highly respected Rioja producer, the wine comes from vineyards planted within the Rioja Alavesa appellation. The soils are a mix of limestones and clay which brings a natural acidity and balance to the wine. This example, made by a Rioja producer, from grapes grown within the region, doesn’t actually have the name Rioja on the label, as it is made slightly outside of the rules, but it certainly tastes like it.

Abadia de Acon, Acon Joven, Ribera del Duero 2023

Abadia de Acon, Acon Joven, Ribera del Duero 2023
A full bodied, rich and unctuous red wine from Ribero del Duero. Unoaked, with flavours of fresh blackberries, blueberries and plums. Made exclusively from Tempranillo, you would be forgiven for expecting it to taste similar to a Rioja, however Ribero is a much hotter place resulting in a much more robust style of wine. If you like Malbec, this one will be right up your street. The climate along the Duero is extreme, with hot dry summers and harsh winters. The hot summer days and cool evenings result in intense and full bodied reds with a firm structure and refreshing acidity.

This is Malbec in its purest form—vibrant, juicy, and utterly delicious. Bursting with ripe blackberries, plump cherries, and fresh raspberries, it’s a wine that sings with fruit. With no oak influence, the focus is all on pure, expressive freshness, with a bright, lifted acidity that keeps it lively and dangerously easy to drink.
